The team visited Hawassa and the Dore Bafano district in Sidama Regional State to assess LFSDP performance based on selected value chain commodities.
During the visit, participants observed the Model Poultry Village business operation, which is operated by a group of young graduates who grow chickens and produce poultry feed for the surrounding community.
Furthermore, the business operation of Hawassa Dairy Product Processing and Marketing Cooperative, which is controlled by 120 female members, was visited, and the contribution of the women group in providing milk and dairy products for Hawassa town consumers was seen, and suggestions were given by the team that enable women dairy groups to improve and expand their businesses.
On the field, Tula Red Meat Marketing Youth Groups, who are engaged in small ruminant fattening, were visited by the team.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Frauke Jungbluth has given valuable comments and suggestions for the regional team in particular and the LFSDP team in general to scale out the successes and best performances of LFSDP I to unaddressed areas and to enable cooperatives to carry out businesses by themselves in a sustainable way.
